The greatest attraction of the town is at the hill top where you will find the Costa Blancas most distinctive landmark - the Church of Altea with its magnificent dome of blue and white glazed ceramic tiles. The walk up to the church plaza involve strolling sthrough narrow cobbled lanes of the old quarter along the array of local craft shops and galleries which should be on everybody to-do list. The plaza offers the most spectacular views of mountains and the Bay of Altea. There are also an array of restaurants where you can enjoy both traditional Spanish and a variety of excellent Mediterranean cuisines.
