Description of Apartment:
Es Castell/Cales Fonts Es castell is a picturesque town located on the south east side of the island it is very close to the capital Mahon. It has many charming restaurants,many of which are in small caves previously used by fisherman to repair their nets.The town provides all the necessary amenities whilst retaining its period charm and character. Both Mahon and Es castell share the same colonial style architecture influenced by the british who occupied the island in the eighteenth century. Not so much a tourist resort but a popular location with couples and local families seeking an evening out in the warm air. There are craft shops, art galleries,coffee and tapas bars as well as a host of restaurants offering varied european,spanish and menorcean fare. Cales fonts is the name of the beautiful harbour front .where the apartment is located. The place has a relaxed ambience all of its own. THE APARTMENT This Beautiful Georgian building is one of the few in the area that has been converted into apartments occupying a prominent position, this spacious penthouse provides the holiday maker with a panoramic seaview over the harbour. Take full advantage of the superb location by enjoying a drink on the balcony and then walk downstairs and choose a table outside one of the restaurants along the harbour. No taxi required! The apartment has three good size bedrooms and two bathrooms. An open plan kitchen and living room area. The main bedroom is on a mezzanine floor.The adjacent bathrom has been completly re fitted with local marble and new loo, sink and walk in shower. Both other bedrooms have two single beds per room. The third bedroom has a balcony with a view that can only be described as stunning. PLEASE NOTE, there are spiral stairs within the apartment which do not suit very young children or the elderly. There is a shared pool downstairs set within a private garden area. Art lovers may wish to visit the gallery in the basement. There is a small beach within walking distance but the main beaches are a 10-15 minute drive away.Es castell is a 15 minute taxi ride from the airport. Services such as changing and cleaning of bed linen etc are arranged via an outside contractor and not provided by me. Please email to discuss this as it is very easily and inexpensively arranged. There is a frequent bus service to the much larger capital mahon, port and town center which is ten minutes away. During the evening mahon has something for everyone. Be it a lively bar or gourmet restaurants. During the day you can explore the fantastic gin distillery,fish market and fashionable shops. Not perhaps in that order! Another option could be a trip to the cricket club at st Lluis. Enjoy a cool pint at the club house whils`t the MCC (Menorca cricket club) take on a touring side. Car hire is best but not a necessity. Early booking is advisable. Menorca apartment to rent. Es castell rental. VISITOR COMMENTS Hi Richard, Just to let you know that Margaret and I had a great time in Menorca,as we knew we would especially in Es Castell which we enjoyed visiting last year. To be staying so central was great . We spent many an hour on that fabulous balcony, both day and night. I took some nice photos If you want me to download some for your website, It wouldnt be a problem. We found the apartment very spacious and we were very comfortable. It is very handy for the local supermarkets and butchers etc.but not forgetting the terrific smells coming from the local restaurents. We are thinking about next year and if you could let us know the available dates and prices as soon as you have any details, we would be most grateful. Thank Richard We had a great holiday and were very pleased with the appartment. Its so nice to stay in an older place with some character. You could really emphasise the views from the sun deck when you advertise. The bottle of wine and milk is a nice idea and was much appreciated especially as we arrived quite late. Cathy was very helpful and I hope she thought the place in reasonable order when we left. We seemed to have exclusive use of the pool which was a bonus for the children. Well certainly be recommending the apartment to friends. Thanks Andy you beat me to it - my first job this morning was to contact you to say what a wonderful week we had - for the first time we all lost weight from climbing all those stairs - very good exercise after spending too much time eating and drinking. The view from the balcony is worth a million dollars...hope we left everything OK. Cathy was really helpful organising a car for us. Thankyou for the thoughtful items waiting for us...the beer was especially welcome after the journey..you have a brilliant apartment in a wonderful part of the island..thankyou for sharing it- Sue
