Description of Apartment:

Cullera is a typically Spanish seaside resort. If you are after elegance and designer shops, discos or English tea and food then you wont find it here. If, however, you want a comfortable base a stones throw from a wonderful sandy beach, great views of the sea and mountains behind and the opportunity to sample some excellent and reasonably priced Spanish cuisine, then this is for you. Very litle English is spoken in this resort but this is Spain after all!

b>THE APARTMENT

A modern two-bedroom apartment with a brand new totally refurbished kitchen in a recently-renovated block right next to the ever-popular Raco beach, which has been awarded a European blue flag for cleanliness. It has two double bedrooms (both with twin beds) , one bathroom with bath and shower, bidet and wash basin and a new fully equipped kitchen with large fridge-freezer, washing machine, electric oven and ceramic hob and microwave. It also has a lounge/diner with sofabed (can be used as an occasional bed for up to 2 people) and TV, and large sunny balcony opening from the living room facing south with views of the sea, the promenade and the gardens below. It is on the second floor accessed by a choice of two lifts or stairs. There are polished marble terrazzo floors throughout.
There is only a pedestrian promenade (no traffic!) to cross and you are on a beautiful wide sandy beach. The sea is shallow for quite some distance, so very safe for families! The promenade leads directly to Cullera town centre, which takes about 10 to 15 minutes on foot. Along the promenade and in the town itself are lots of shops, ice cream parlours and a wide choice of restaurants offering a variety of local specialities such as sea food and paella valenciana.
The block also has its own private swimming pool with separate shallow pool for children (isnt always available before June!), a private car park with an automatic locking gate and there is also a supermarket linked to the building (open from Easter to mid October). Security includes an entry phone system, with all entrance doors locked overnight. There is also a public garden with childrens playground next door to the block.
Please note, however, that just like the majority of properties in this area the flat has NO HEATING. Most of the year it is unnecessary!

THE TOWN

Cullera is where the Spanish go on holiday so you will see a mixture of Spanish visitors to the town, with the affluent inhabitants of Madrid and nearby Valencia being in the majority. There are also visitors from France, Germany, UK and even as far afield as the USA. It is only 38 km from Valencia and only 40 minutes drive from Valencia airport.
From above Cullera looks like an arc formation embracing the Mediterranean, whilst extending to what is known as the “Montaña de Cullera” (Cullera Mountain) or the Sierra de las Zorras (the Sierra of the Foxes). Located on the left bank of the river Jucar, it has some enviable blue flag beaches and an exceptional natural environment nearby.
Cullera’s climate is dry with annual temperatures above 17 Degrees C for most of the year and considerably higher in the summer months.

THE SURROUNDINGS

There are beaches and mountains and the wealth of landscape is completed by a variety of crops, which change the colour of the countryside with each season of the year. The vegetation is characterised by orange and lemon groves, rice fields, olive trees, carob trees and fruit trees.

PLACES OF INTEREST

• Visit the Thursday market in the old town
• Walk to the top of the mountain and visit the Sanctuary (or take the little tourist train)
• Visit the “Cuevas del Dragut” (dragon caves) in Faro and the museum inside them.
• See the lighthouse in Faro
• Go to the rice museum
• Spend the day in the “Aquapolis”. A water park which has attractions to suit all the family: the Niagara, the “black hole” water slide, the Himalayan descent, gentle water slides. Kamikaze water slides and the lake of adventure.
• Go further afield and visit the “Albufera”, a large fresh-water lagoon where you can take a trip on a flat-bottomed boat, visit the bird sanctuary and eat the best paellas in neighbouring fishing villages.
• Good days out: Valencia, Gandia, Jativa, Alicante and the its theme parks and much more

SPORTS
In summer the beach is filled with temporary facilities for practicing windsurfing. Diving, fishing, boat rental, including pedalos, and of course swimming are also on offer. All year round the municipal sports centre, and a marvellous covered pavilion offer volleyball, indoor football, basketball, badminton, rhythmic gymnastics and handball, as well as different types of martial arts.

If you enjoy playing golf, the world famous El Soler Golf Club is less than 20 km away!

Club Cullera Garbi: This is a beach installation located in the small bay called Cap Blanc, in the northern part of the town of Cullera. It is protected from the strong winds and normally has calm seas enabling the less experienced to practise their sailing skills. It is open during Easter and the summer months and provides rental services, teaching courses and storage areas for windsurf boards.

Club Náutico de Cullera: This club is located at the mouth of the Júcar River, presenting a picturesque image of a riparian port right next to the town centre. Its biggest attraction is the entrance and exit to the sea at the mouth of the river, where local fishermen line the shores. Skippers should keep an eye out for fishing lines as they move up and down the river mouth.

Club Piragüismo Cullera: On the south bank of the Júcar River, this club is a reference point in town, because some of the better-known canoeists in the country have been trained here. To watch how they train is a spectacle in itself and not a few enthusiasts are likely to sign up.

Club Cullera (Fedas): This club is a member of FEDAS and offers diving tuition including courses for the 1 to 3-star levels that lead to the internationally recognised CMAS qualification. Apart from courses and practical training, they also organise dives at diverse spots in the area, mainly near the Lighthouse and the Peña del Moro.

Seasurf Patrol: At the foot of the Santa Marta mountain, covered with Mediterranean pine forests and overlooking the sea, this is a beachfront installation focusing mainly on windsurf and funboard, and providing a range of services such as courses and board hire. It is open during Easter and during the summer months.

PLEASE NOTE: The main season is from June to September. Out of season the resort is much quieter with fewer shops and restaurants open but it is stiil very pleasant nonetheless.
