Description of Apartment:
After a recent renovation this apartment has been transformed into a perfect blend of old historical elements and modern design: Exposed brick and plastered walls, red floor tiles and vast wooden beams on the ceiling expose some of the original elements used in the construction of this residential building. The uniquely designed duplex unit of 65m2 (485 Sq. ft.) is divided into 2 levels with the bedroom upstairs with access to a private terrace and a living area downstairs where a kitchen unit breaks up the area into different zones; a dining area right next to the open kitchen and a lounge area with a sofa that is convertible into a single bed. The separate bathroom is comfortable and well distributed with a lavatory, shower and sink. This centrally located apartment is on the 4th floor on the exterior side of a building with its windows facing a quiet street. The terrace with plants, hammock, bench and puffs is accessible from the bedroom. The apartment is as centrally located as one can wish for in the Medieval part of town, called Barri Gotic or Barrio Gotico (in Castilian). Barri Gotic is the oldest part of the city and is the settling site chosen by the Romans during the Augustus Empire (27 to 14 B.C.). It is a dense are with numerous winding streets full of historic and artistic landmarks. Las Ramblas with its street vendors, living statues, bird sellers and flower stalls is very close by, just as the Plaça reial with its bars and restaurants and the fresh market ‘La Boqueria’. Northeast of the famous Las Ramblas promenade, The Paseig de Gracia offers an abundance of upscale fashion shops and department stores and this is where one encounters the most famous Gaudi buildings ‘La Pedrera’ and ‘Casa Battlo’. The apartment is in a very central, yet quiet location, making it an ideal base to explore the city.
