These include Jet skiing, wind surfing, sailing, fishing, snorkelling, and scuba diving. Los Alcazares Beach is a 15 min drive from the resort THE CLIMATE Murcia is bestowed with almost 2800 hours of sunshine a year – thats about double seen in the UK! Just to even out the maths, and with an average temperature of 21oC its easy to see why Costa Calida is known as Spain’s warm coast. THE REGION El Valle is situated in the province of Murcia which is in the South East of mainland Spain and boasts over 230 km of golden sandy beaches, the shores of which are flanked by 2 seas the Mar Menor and the Mediterranean. The Mar Menor or (small sea) is Europes largest salt water lagoon, with 175 square kilometres of shallow water. Founded by the Carthaginians in 227 it was the place where Hannibal departed to fight against the Romans, as you can imagine the Port is steeped in history and beautiful architecture including some of the most wonderful façade’s. There are numerous museums housing every thing from Roman Mosaics to a collection of elephant tusks with Phoenician inscriptions, the only one of its kind in the world, there’s even a life-size model of a Roman merchant ship.
