Description of Villa:
Casa Romero A delightful and beautifully presented villa set within its own gardens of lawn and terrace with private pool and sea view. Less than 5 minutes by car or 15mins walk into Begur and between 5 and 10 minutes drive to the superb sandy beach and coastal village of Sa Riera. Also close by is Tamariu, Aiguablava, Calella de Palafrugell, and Llafranc all with waterfront restaurants and shops.. Description Accommodation is for 4 people with 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. Spacious living area with covered terrace and separate kitchen area. The bathroom and kitchen is new for 2008 as are all the floor tiles and decoration. Facilities include airconditioning and sat tv with UK channels. The Villa is surrounded by mature gardens and has a raised terrace with views of Begur and the castle. There is a covered terrace extending from the living room and a built-in barbecue. At the side of the villa is a lawned area leading to a private swimming pool with surrounding terrace. Bedrooms and bathrooms: Double bedroom with large double bed Twin bedroom with 2 x 90cm beds Each bedroom has fitted wardrobes and bedside tables and lamps. New bathroom with bath and shower Casa Romero is available all year with airconditioning and a wood burning stove to enhance the winter months. The situation is superb with sea and country view as well as view of Begur castle. A delightful garden with palm trees and exotic shrubs surrounds the villa. Suitable for children. The swimming pool has surrounding terraces. Sunbeds and garden furniture are provided. The house is set amongst mature grounds including lawn and exotic plants. Next to the covered terrace leading off the living room there is a built in bbq next to the open dining terrace with views of Begur. A few steps lead up from the back garden to a further terrace with sea views. Living room Comfortably furnished with sofas and occasional furniture and including dining table and chairs for 6 people. Sat.tv [freeview], cd player. There is aircondioning and a woodburnning stove for extra effect during the winter months. From the living room is a covered terrace with seating area. In addition an outdoor dining terrace with views of Begur has a garden dining table with parasol and 6 chairs. The kitchen is new for 2008 and well equipped with washing machine, dishwasher, fridge, oven, hob, microwave, toaster, kettle, etc. Begur - This charming hillside town with its cobbled streets offers the visitor an outstanding choice of Catalan restaurants, tapas bars and shops. The main square has entertainment in the high season and there are many late night bars and a couple of discos. The overall atmosphere is very Spanish with local artists` paintings and crafts displayed in the square during the summer. Every Wednesday there is a market sellling fruit/veg clothes and accessories. There are excellent supermarkets,specialist fishmonger, butchers` shops and freshly baked bread available in many shops. There are many other places of interest including Salvador Dalis castle at Pubol and his amazing museum at Figueres, where you cannot fail to be drawn in by his diverse art. At La Bisbal the streets are littered with ceramic shops and there is also an antique centre. Girona is a wonderful small city to visit, known as mini-Barcelona, with its own charming ramblas and interesting shops and pavement restaurants. Barcelona, if you crave city life, is one hour by train from Flaca (20mins by car from Begur) and here you can leave your car and get right into the centre of Barcelona by train. The border of France is approximately one hour away but you will find all you need and more in this beautiful and charming unspoilt region of Spain, Costa Brava, Catalunya. About the area ~ this is the unspoilt Costa Brava or Catalunya which is free from large Tour Operated holidays and where most of the properties are owned by Barcelonians. It is rarely overcrowded and has retained real Spanish charm without a souvenir shop in sight! This is an area you will want to return to again and again.... Every day there will be a different place of interest to visit, be it a cultural pursuit or another sundrenched sandy cove with clear water to while away the day. All the coastal resorts here have waterfront restuarants, cafes and shops and it is a real pleasure to wander the little streets around the front and enjoy the spectacular scenery that this rugged coastline offers. Development here is mainly villas as the terrain does not allow for large apartment blocks and the coastline remains intact with some wonderful coastal path walks. NEARBY ACTIVITIES AND ATTRACTIONS: Tennis and horseriding- 5mins drive. Beach activities, snorkelling, diving- 10min drive. The beaches in this region are superb. All sandy with blue flags and mostly a shallow entrance. This area attracts many spaniards from Barcelona and other parts of Spain, many of whom have holiday homes here. Go-karting for kids and adults-10mins drive. Water park- 20mins drive. Zoo- 10mins drive Golf- many golf courses within 10-20 mins drive. The house manual gives details of all the courses in the local vicinity. Sailing- 10mins drive. There is a sailing club at Sa Riera and kayaks and pedallos for hire. Kayaks also at Calella. Cultural activities- all over the region: Figueres- Dalis museum- 40mins drive Medieval towns- 15-20 mins drive- Peratallada- a must to visit. Restaurants- too numerous to mention. Begur has a very good choice as do the coastal villages. The house manual has previous guests comments on local restaurants. Shops- an interesting selection of very good shops selling clothes, jewellery, etc. Food- excellent speciality shops in Begur for fish and meat plus very good supermarkets. Cycling- bykes can be hired in Palafrugell Walking- this is wonderful walking country, especially out of season when it is not so hot. The tourist office has a map showing popular walks. Skiing- within 3 hours you can be on the slopes in Andorra. Night life- plenty if you want it but there is not a string of discos here. Mainly late night cellar bars with music, some with dancing. There is a club in Begur and one just outside, not far from the villa but well away from everything and everyone! The main square has entertainment in the high season with a mixture of traditional and modern music and dancing. Wonderful to just sit and watch!
