Description of Townhouse: |
Casa la Piedra is an old house in the heart of Competa. This pretty white village is cradled by the Sierra Tejeda / Almijara mountains and looks across vine covered hillsides to the Mediterranean. Casa la Piedra has a wonderfully organic feel with simple Andaluz decor. There are beautiful old spanish olive urns and mirrors displayed. The walls are covered with paintings and photographs of local artists. There is a large roof terrace from where at certain times of the year one can see the Riff mountains of North Africa. There are some unusual architectural features; a balustrade exposing two floor levels, beamed ceilings and terracotta floors. An open fireplace and an inner courtyard of jasmin, aspidistras and exotic plants. Casa la Piedra has been sensitively restored to offer comfortable accommodation. The spacious open kitchen/dining room spans the middle floor giving a feel of light and space. Every corner of this lovely house is a haven of discovery; hence its inclusion in Special Places to Stay in Spain.
Competa is lively with many bars and restaurants to choose from at affordable prices. There is a local hotel with a beautiful swimming pool and tennis courts. It is possible to hire mountain bikes and horseriding / trekking is available close-by. The national park cradles the village and is beautiful for both serious walkers and those who like to stroll. we supply guide books of local walks and a personal guide can be organised for the more difficult walks. The beaches are half an hours drive. The port of La Caleta and the beach cafes are scattered along the coastline.
There is a big artist community here. The owner of Casa La Piedra hosts a life class once a week. She is a Reflexologist / Aromatherapist and it is possible to book a treatment in advance of your arrival.
Layout of the house comprises: living room with open fireplace and wood for winter lets. A little courtyard / double bedroom / bathroom. Stairs up in one direction to t.v./video / stairs in other direction to open kitchen / dining room.

Confirmation of booking
We require a deposit of fifty percent on confirmation of booking (non-returnable) the balance six weeks prior to date of arrival.

Facilities: |
We supply wood for winter lets. There is a heater on each floor. Two portable fans for summer lets. ironing board/iron. Washing machine,
electric cooker with oven. two fridges. Linen and one set of towells per person. Guests must bring beach towells. CD/radio/cassette player.
T.V./Video. Parking is a short distance from the house.
There is a spacious roof terrace. this is half covered in the summer to provide extra shade. A large table seats 8. (with chairs). also a smaller round iron table (seats 2). There is a utility room which holds extra furniture and barbeque.
A cot can be hired locally (20 euro per week).
Please note: this is not a house for people with toddlers or mobility problems.
