Description of Cottage:
Lying just a few miles inland from the jostling crowds of the Costa del Sol is the beautiful Guadalhorce Valley edged by dramatic mountains. 400 metres high, in a triangle between Cártama, Pizarra and Álora, is Finca Cencerrita where La Casita Maria is situated. The Finca (farm) covers nearly 8 acres of gently sloping mountain-side interspersed with almond and olive trees, not to mention an abundance of wild flowers throughout most of the year. With the incredible views from here, sunsets are an important part of the day - sometimes simply pretty, many times very dramatic - always different. Here, there is not only respite from the mayhem of the coastal areas, but relief from the searing summer temperatures as gentle breezes bring their cooling reprieve. This is a haven where you can unwind and soak up the atmosphere of this still unspoilt hideaway in rural Spain. It must be said that here is no place for the avid sightseer, the restless fidget or the impatient night clubber. Instead it is a refuge from all that the "traditional" Spanish holiday brings. Cool off in the splash pool or sip an iced drink in a shady spot under the olive tree. This is the time to unwind: read a book, be with your loved one, just infuse your soul with peace and relaxation. Let the laid-back mañana temperament of the Andalucians take hold of you and recharge yourself with a very special type of holiday. This delightful cabin has a lovely romantic feel to it. A paradise for lovers, walkers, painters, photographers and anyone else who wants simply wants to get away from it all. Those who enjoy yoga and meditation have found the cabin decking a peaceful and soothing place to practise their exercises. Even naturist couples -delight in the fact they can enjoy a view and not be hemmed in by high walls! Several walks in the area have been documented by former guests, ranging from the 15 minute "Get Fitter" (!) to several hours. We also have a Garmin GPS available for hire - please ask for further details. Have you tried Geocaching yet? It is a sort of treasure hunt with your GPS. We have several caches not too far from us - the nearest is El Santo: the Christ Statue on the hill above Pizarra. Whilst inexpensive to rent, the accommodation is by no means "budget" class! Every care has been taken to make sure that this lovely wooden cabin will provide you with all the creature comforts needed for your special holiday: * 6.3m x 4.5 - not including sundeck. * Private Situation * Plunge pool (tiled free form cut into the mountain side) * Private shaded, decked terrace at front with table and chairs - a perfect spot for whiling away the day and watching the sunsets! A magnificent view ... * Screened side pergola to keep the sun and any insects at bay * Double Bed * Comfy 2-Seater Sofa * Large shower room (also with great views!) * Kitchenette - equipped with a full size cooker, large fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, plenty of glasses and crockery etc * Windows are removable leaving just the screens - feels like living outside in the summer! * Digital Safe * Gas barbecue (charcoal one available if preferred) * TV/Video/DVD - a good selection of DVDs (NB the TV is not hooked up to any networks, although it receives many Spanish channels by default!) * Assorted games and books * Ceiling fan to keep things cool in summer * Heater to keep things warm in winter * Side terrace with sunloungers overlooking the pool -also with an amazing view! * Picturesque olive tree for shady seating ... and dozing To ensure you do not get lost on way from the airport, we always meet first time guests at Estacion de Cartama to guide you to Finca Cencerrita.

Shopping List: If you dont want to arrive in Spain and immediately start shopping for food, we can provide you with a starter pack of basic supplies - details of which will be sent a couple of weeks before the start of your holiday. Dinner - especially the first night: Cooking a meal when you have had a long day travelling is not a great start to the holiday - for 12 euros a head, we will cook your dinner for you! A basic but tasty menu is available - also sent a couple of weeks beforehand. Arriving:We always meet our first time guests in Cartama Estación to show the way to Casita Maria - getting lost on the last leg to your holiday destination would not put you in the holiday spirit! For this reason, we ask that you let us know your flight times so that we have some advance idea of when we will be meeting you. If you do not wish to hire a car, we can pick you up from the airport for 35 euros each way - this includes getting your provisions on the way to Casita Maria. If you fancy going on an Outing, take a look at Casita Marias own website. Rural Living You are staying in the remote Andalucian countryside and will encounter a totally different way of life from the towns – but isn’t that one of the reasons you want to visit?! The nearest villages (Alora or Estacion de Cartama) are 13 kilometres (8 miles) away and take 20-30 minutes. Please bear this in mind when planning any sightseeing - do not be too ambitious when planning your itinerary! We do of course have laundry facilities available if required - a service wash costs 5 euros.
