the owners do live on site.

Description of Country house: |
Cortijo La Era is located high in the mountains to the rear of estacion de cartama in the malaga Province, it it approx 40 min to the airport and the coast,and city of Malaga.The original part of the cortijo is around 100 years old, we have extended and totally reformed it ,but have retained all the
original features and characteristics inc new timber roofs.The private accomodation is in the old part with its original twisted walls and exposed stone and timbers, There are 2 good sized bedrooms,
A lounge and a large shower wet room, The large fully equipped main kitchen and the dining room are in the new part there is also work tops,sink, and b.b.q. outside The owners who live on site do use the kitchen,but are very rarley seen or heard. but are very sociably if you require them to be. we have 3 outside dogs but again they are away from you,and you wont come into contact with you unless you ask to . we also have various breeds of rabbits, chickens, and birds but these are on lower levels of the mountain and not visible from the cortijo unless you want to walk and see them,and a special animal ,if you know what it is when you see it we will buy you a meal out.
The views from the cortijo are without doubt the most spectacular in the area, .It is a place to really recharge your batteries There are various terraces and areas for you to sit and relax, inc the slate area (The era) laid by the original family over 85 years ago.
This is a beautiful place to sit in the afternoon or evening with a cool drink, or relax in the plungepool and watch the changing light and colours of the sunset across the med, and the early evening lights of the villages and the city of Malaga.
The BBQ area has the same views but with the added tranquility of the fountain in the fish pond.here you can sit in the mottled shade of the 90 year old eucalyptus trees heaven!. if you want to stretch your legs we have over 16 acres of gently sloping mountain side you can explore.
Maybe find the 80 year old well dug into the rock, The land is full of almond, and olive trees you can pick the almonds late august, we also pick the olives for our oil for eating and cooking.
where ever you are around the cortijo the scenery and views are unbelievable, If you are a motorcyclist we can take you to some outstanding areas of interest on some really good biking roads.If you want to simply relax, sun bathe or whatever we have seats and benches in different areas of land no view is the same but they are all outstanding.
we can arrange car hire if you wish or motorcycle hire, or we can either take you on excursions or arrange them for you , if you want a feel of real rural spain then this area is perfect for that.
we cater for self catering or bed and breakfast. Our fresh free range eggs with bread done in the old wood oven with our own olive oil !?
